“The Best Of ABBA” is the best-selling album of all time in Australia (tied with Dire Straits’ “Brothers in Arms”), certified 22 times Platinum, with over 1,100,000 units sold. In New Zealand it is certified 24 times Platinum. In the Netherlands and West Germany “The Best Of ABBA” was the best-selling album of 1976.

The release of “The Best Of ABBA” prompted ABBA’s mother company Polar to rush-release “Greatest Hits”.

The same pool of 15 songs was used for “The Best Of ABBA” and “Greatest Hits”. The original 1975 configuration of “The Best Of ABBA” includes 12 tracks, later editions also include “Fernando”. Less well known tracks like “He Is Your Brother” and “Another Town, Another Train” appearing on “Greatest Hits” don’t appear on “The Best Of ABBA”.
